CUT WASTEFUL SPENDING:
We must learn to use common sense spending in government just as we do with our family budgets. Enforcing the constitutional spending cap and holding our leaders accountable will bring fiscal responsibility back to Hartford. I will work to help you keep your hard-earned money. After all, you are doing more with less, and so should your government.
TAXES, JOBS & ECONOMY
Connecticut has the second highest tax burden in the nation, according to a new data from the Tax Foundation and was just ranked 49th in economic growth. In 2011, Democratic lawmakers approved the largest tax increase in state history. And if that wasn’t enough, in 2015 they passed the 2nd largest tax hike in state history. Connecticut cannot tax, borrow, or spend its way to prosperity Taxing our way out of debt will further erode businesses and drive taxpayers away from our state. Keeping businesses growing is the key to a thriving economy. In order for businesses to succeed and prosper, we need to make it easier not harder to do business in CT. As I go door to door meeting with voters, I hear more concern about this issue than perhaps any other. As one who is dedicated to fiscal responsibility we must do all we can to provide relief to taxpayers.
PROTECT SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS
The freedom to bear arms, protect yourself, your property, and your family is an important individual right protected in the United States Constitution, just like free speech and our other rights. I will oppose any attempt that restricts the constitutional rights of responsible, law-abiding gun owners.
LIMITED GOVERNMENT:
The primary purpose of government is to protect the life and liberty of its people. While there are important core functions that government should carry out, we must do our due diligence to ensure that government does not interfere with functions more appropriately left to the private sector. Prosperity and opportunity comes from hard working individuals and entrepreneurs, not from government. As government grows individual liberty and opportunity decreases.
As your state representative I will advocate for a limited and accountable government that never forgets that it works for you.
EDUCATION:
Every single child deserves the opportunity to receive a great education. The direct oversight and responsibility of our schools should be by our local Boards of Education. They are better placed to make educational decisions based on the needs and values of the local community.
VETERANS:
America is the greatest nation in the history of the world. I honor and appreciate the service of our veterans, and will always work on behalf of veterans to make sure the men and women who served have access to the healthcare and benefits they are entitled to.
SENIORS:
Seniors fight a constant battle to maintain their quality of life. Taxes and increasing medical expenses are constantly consuming more and more of their savings. I am a strong proponent for improving the health, economic security and quality of life for our seniors. I will always protect our seniors and ensure they have the services they need.
